Niki is a travel enthusiast who always comes back to her beloved Plovdiv. She is a first-generation local who only moved away to Sofia to get her law degree.
Mila was born in Plovdiv and it was her passion for languages and cultures that determined her career path – apart from being a tour guide, she teaches English at the Plovdiv University and works as a translator and proofreader.
Velis is a local. He’s also a professional musician – the one in the symphony orchestra with tuxedo or tails. He loves motorcycles and of course he loves nice beer – chillin’ in the spirit of Aylak!
Alex was born and raised in a small town on the cost of the Danube river. He moved to Plovdiv because of the rich culture that the city had to offer, and fell in love with it at first sight.
Being born in Plovdiv and then growing up in the USA, Nenko utilizes the best of both cultures to present a tour which is both amusing and informative. In his free time he plays with music and studies molecular biology.

Nikolay was born in a city on the other side of Bulgaria, but has been living in Plovdiv since the age of 3. Even though he has been to numerous other destinations throughout his life, he still absolutely adores the city. In 2015 he graduated from the “Plovdiv” Language High School and is presently studying Law in the Sofia University. His hobbies include reading, watching movies, playing the bass guitar and hanging out in the bar with his friends. He is also a very keen scholar of history and literature, which has helped him a lot at being a tour guide as well
Monika was born in a town nearby, but few months later has moved to Plovdiv. Like most of her colleagues she is also a law student. In her spare time Moni likes wandering around Plovdiv, exploring every part of it. One of the reasons why she became a tour guide is because of her comunicative personality and her fondness for different cultures.
Kathy was born in Plovdiv, but she moved to Greece at the age of 2. She lived there for 7 years, but the great spirit of Plovdiv never left her heart so she and her family moved back. Kathy just graduated from High school and she really hopes that in October 2015 she will be a Law student in the Sofia University. Kathy is a communicative person and she loves meeting people from all around the world. She has visited all European countries, also the United Arab Emirates and dreams to go to Australia, South America, USA, Japan and South Africa. Traveling is her passion but however her motto is- “There’s no place like home – Plovdiv”.
Ivan was born in a small town nearby but has spent the bigger part of his life living in Plovdiv. He graduated from the English Language School “Plovdiv” in 2013 and now he is a Law student in the Sofia University. Ivan is interested in sports- in his free time he watches football, tennis and he also plays volleyball and goes to the gym regularly. One of his dreams is to continue his education in a foreign university and he is also dreaming of becoming a successful lawyer.
Iliya is born and raised in Plovdiv, lived all his life so far in the city. He’s always dreamt about being on stage, and is forever in love with his hometown. He enjoys playing the guitar, talking about history, philosophy and life.
Dani’s a guide for the two projects that our organization has in Plovdiv. He considers himself half- local as he has spent one third of his life in Plovdiv. He is a teacher on the side, or a guide on the side of being a teacher, he can’t decide himself. According to the people around him, he is a positive, talkative young man with a peculiar sense of humor. Thus If you don’t get it at first you’ll have the whole tour to get used to it! Furthermore, the hills of Plovdiv are his passion for many reasons. For instance, since he prefers to practice his hobbies outdoors, sometimes he ends up doing sports or playing music on top of a hill. Finally, even though Dani likes to speak a lot, he can’t wait to hear your story!
Tsveta was born in a small town close to the seaside, but has lived in Plovdiv for over 15 years now. And she has come to love the town of the seven hills as her own. She graduated from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv, then spent a year and a half in Switzerland studying Hospitality Management. Some of her numerous hobbies are reading, drawing and studying foreign languages.
Adi was born in Plovdiv and, even though she travelled a lot, she still sees the city as one of the most beautiful places she has been to. She graduated from Plovdiv University with a degree in Psychology. Adi enjoys working with people and always welcomes new friendships from all over the world. She has a passion for fantasy novels and loves spending time with a good book when not guiding tours.

Great Intro to the city We had a great time on the Plovdiv Walking Tour with Vessy. The stories and history were just right, the duration was good, and our guide spoke great English! Thank you for a great tour. Highly recommend. TravellerNZ101, Australia
Great Tour! I was in Sofia during a spring trip through the Balkans and decided to a day trip to Plovdiv knowing that it had some Roman History and might in fact be related to Spartacus. Glad I did and glad I found this tour. It was great and very informative. Lots of Bulgarian and Roman History (not too sure about Spartacus) The guide Adelina was awesome and extremely knowledgeable. If you’re in Plovdiv or passing through there is no reason why you shouldn’t do this tour. it’s absolutely worth it! (I mean of course being free. you should still leave a tip though) but I would have paid for it too. Franz H.
Excellent ! Our tour guide was Dessie – charming, friendly and intelligent young person . We enjoyed the tour with Dessie very much and we appreciated her immense knowledge of Plovdiv’s history . Professional job, well done Dessie ! Thank you. Liana, Austria
A nice tour Tour with Boris. Interesting facts about the city, but maybe a bit too formal (we were only five people, maybe that’s the reason). I also thing some more information about the street art in Kapana could be a good idea. CXuor, UK
Great, informative and scenic tour! Our guide, Sveta, was so sweet! She was extremely knowledgable. My boyfriend loves history and loves to ask questions. I think he only stumped her once, but she looked it up! We had a great time! Thanks for a great afternoon! ChelsaAnn, Australia
very informative and entertaining We have greatly enjoyed strolling around the sightseing points and listening to what Vessy and Sasha had to tell about the rich history of this beautiful city mixing fun facts about the lifestyle of the Plovdiv poeple.. We had the opportunity, due to the very small group, also to chat with both of them.Thank you very much to both of you and we wish this tour to continue for long. Kostas and Maria
Wonderful tour We had a great tour with the extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide Tsveta. Plovdiv is beautiful and I highly recommend visiting and taking this tour. Erin, USA
Dani’s warm welcome on the Plovdiv tour At the very moment I learnt about the Free Sofia tour Association, I got quite eager to visit one of their tours. I learnt that this organization of volunteers makes tours not only in Sofia, but in Plovdiv and Varna, as well. So what a more appropriate opportunity to make this dream of mine come true than to join one of the daily tours of Plovdiv when I visited the town a few days ago? The tour was so well presented that the hour and a half that it lasted seemed to be just a couple of minutes. Our tour guide Dani was well acquainted with all the possible details of the history of Plovdiv and the places we visited. Even though I am a Bulgarian and I have visited the town a couple of times before, we were taken to sightseeing attractions new to me in that amazing town! Nelly, Bulgaria
Awesome way to get to know the city – for visitors and locals alike! We were a group of ~20 friends – different nationalities and ages – and we all loved the tour, and found it very engaging and informative! The guide totally captivated our imagination even though we were not an easy group (it was a morning tour and half of us were recovering from a night out until the morning). The foreign guests got an amazing introduction into the history and culture of Plovdiv, and even people who had lived in the city discovered new aspects of it. We did the paid version of the tour, because we couldn’t fit into the free scheduled tours, but it was absolutely worth it! Vanya, United States
