You can find “Who let the dogs out, aka hitting the clubs in Plovdiv” – Part I here.
In the previous post we mentioned a few of the new and old gems of the Plovdiv club scene. We are going to pick up from where we stopped and offer you a few more options to explore while you are in Europe’s oldest living city (which has stayed that way because of its party people).
You think your Bulgarian is good enough – try going to the local theatre. And if that’s not exactly your cup of tea, try a glass of whiskey instead in Plovdiv’s newest bar, which just happens to be inside the building of the theatre. Who knows, after a shot or two, you might feel ready to take over the floor and put up a show.
We are happy to announce that for a few months now Plovdiv has been boasting its own beer bar. It provides an unseen and untasted variety of beers – Belgian, English, Irish, German, Czech, Bulgarian, etc. While its size might be humble, its cosiness and flavour sure aren’t.
The “mice” might stay inside, but the “cats” know how to have fun on the outside in the new all-pedestrian area of the Trap neighbourhood.
If you are more of a wine person, then perhaps Vino Culture is the place for you. Located in a small basement apartment, this wine heaven screams cuteness from afar, which is why people have fallen in love with it. Its wine library is one of a kind and includes wines from all over Europe. Of course, it offers small cheese bites to go along with that cold bottle of wine. So if you want to be a little bit more sophisticated before smashing yourself, Vino Culture is the place to be.
If you’ve had enough culture and chit-chat and you would rather take it to the next level, then club Gramophone is the perfect spot. Glamour and cleanliness might not be its best assets, but it will offer you its soul and that means a lot. Plus, it’s not going to empty your pockets for it. The music ranges from electro to rock but after a few drinks your senses and standards should be dulled.
If you’ve had enough of absolutely everything else or you don’t know where you are, try finding your way to the last bastion of the real people – Fabric bar, which will answer all your prayers for a good cheap drink and a nice company. Plus, the music is perfect for those few moments of sobriety left in your mind. So don’t hesitate, fly away and escape.
